Ford F-350 Super Duty

If you want to see how far we've come with Ford performance trucks, just look back a few years to the so-called "golden era" of musclecars. You'll discover this remarkable fact: A modern truck weighing four times as much and powered by a smaller, turbocharged diesel can be just as quick on the dragstrip as some of those famous musclecars from the '60s.

Taking a look at one car in particular, Blue Oval enthusiasts are already familiar with the tale of that wily chicken farmer and racecar driver from Texas named Carroll Shelby who wrangled a deal between Ford Motor Company and AC Cars Shelby, a self-described "guano distributor," convinced Ford to give him a then-new 260-cube V-8, claiming he had secured the U.S. rights to build AC Cars' roadster. At the same time-virtually out of the other side of his mouth-he told the Brits he had a new engine ready to be installed in their chassis. While neither assertion was technically true at the time, Shelby forged ahead anyway and managed to create what is arguably one of the most significant sports cars of the last century: the Shelby Cobra. 2012 GMC New model Acadia version American SUV cars

AM General to build VPG MV-1 people-mover at Hummer H2 factory

Remember the Standard Taxi from the Vehicle Production Group? It's now called the MV-1, and production is slated to begin next year at the AM General plant in Mishawaka, Indiana. That's the same assembly location where the Hummer H2 is built, which makes sense since the MV-1 is based on the same GM underpinnings as the behemoth SUV.

According to its makers, the MV-1 is the first purpose-built wheelchair-accessible vehicle in America, and it's able to accommodate up to six adults or two full-size wheelchairs. An ADA-approved ramp that stows under the vehicle's floor and a 36-inch wide side opening are designed to make entry and exit a simple affair. Read more [ via : autoblog ]

Cadillac Readies Its Grand XTS Flagship for a Springtime Debut

Cadillac has a long history of crafting unapologetically large—and unabashedly luxurious—top-line models. From the great Town Sedans of the 1930s to the finned flagships of the ‘1950s, the luxury division of General Motors has built its reputation on uncompromised grandeur. And this spring, Cadillac delivers the next in this storied line: the XTS.

The sedan, which Cadillac calls the most technologically advanced model in its 110 years (one that likely will inspire the next generation of Presidential State Car), replaces the aging DTS at the top of the model range. Long and wide with a dramatic side swoop, the XTS cuts an impressive profile, and the spacious interior offers supreme comfort to five fortunate occupants (Cadillac claims the XTS offers four inches more rear-seat legroom than the BMW 5-series or Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedans). G-Star RAW: Raw Defender

There are quite a few things in life that we know we’ll never have and we’re content to just ogle. Most of the time those fantasies are related to women and things with gas pedals. The G-Star RAW: Raw Defender is one of those times. The jean manufacturer got in bed with the hottest luxury SUV broad brand in the world (Land Rover, obviously) and this is their offspring.
The paint is unique to this collaboration and it’s called Pennine Gray. The radiator grill, front bumper, under shield and vents are finished with punch holes instead of the traditional grilling. The roof is a nice shade of brown leather. You’re not even reading this anymore, are you? We’ll leave you to your drooling, but there’s one more thing you should know. It’s not available in the US. New 2013 Jeep On The Horizon

We have a lot of contacts inside Jeep and hear a lot of different rumors from week to week. The problem is that most of it doesn't amount to much more than water cooler chat overheard and passed along. Many of the rumors fall into the "too good or too far-fetched to be true" categories and we just dismiss them out of hand. The ones that don't fit either of those categories and come from a trusted source you will often see pop up as blurbs in our Dispatch section.

MiniClubman-based “Clubvan” gets greenlight

Some new reports are out surrounding the Mini Clubman-based “Clubvan” Concept that debuted at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. The Clubvan Concept itself is basically a Mini Clubman except larger and with a reverse opening rear door on the passenger side, and some courier labeling on the panels and windows.

But the piece of news that’s more important is that the Mini Clubvan was reportedly approved for production with a version coming stateside in September of 2013. Read more [ via : egmcartech ]

Volkswagen E-Bugster Cabriolet a glimpse of the future

The lineage the e-bugster electric vehicle goes all the way back to the noble aspirations of the peoples' car, and Volkswagen's very name, so it is very fitting that the E-Bugster looks likely to form the basis of a range of E-Bugster electric vehicles.

Appropriately being shown in the the only market that has embraced electric mobility on any scale, we first saw the E-Bugster as a coupe in Detroit in January, but this time the hard-top has been removed, previewing a future Beetle Cabriolet. Read more [ via : gizmag ]

2013 Mercedes-Benz GL

As we quickly approach the upcoming New York Auto Show, brands are set to showcase their many brand new redesigns for their leading models. One in particular is the unveiling of the all new 2013 Mercedes-Benz GL Class.

The bigger brother of the recently viewed GLK, the GL will come in your choice of three different motors including a 3.5 liter diesel V6 pumping out 240 horsepower, a monstrous twin turbo 4.7 liter V8 pushing out 429 horses, and detuned version making about 362 horsepower.   The new body style is set to hit Mercedes-Benz showrooms this coming fall season. Chrysler 300C – China Edition | luxury cars

Just the other day we got our first look at the Chinese inspired Year of the Dragon Jeep Wrangler. During the unveiling we let you know that Chrysler Group was introducing two Chinese concepts, one of which is this Chrysler 300C China Edition.

Carzone Specials tuning program for Mini Cooper S

The PT Cruiser and New Beetle were not much more than a retro bodyshell on an existing chassis with existing engines (Voyager and Golf IV) and they didn't do very well when sales were concerned. BMW didn't make the same mistake.
The introduction of the Mini One wasn't that impressive but as time went by more and more people who drove the car came out very impressed. 2012 Mopar Jeep Mighty FC Concept

The Jeep Forward Control was built from 1956 to 1965 and offered a clever packaging solution.
It kept overall length at a minimum for maneuverability but maintained a full-length cargo box for utility. For 2012, Jeep has created a modern version of this classic: the Jeep Mighty FC concept.

To create the Jeep Mighty FC concept, the design team started with a 2012 Wrangler Rubicon and repositioned the cabin over and ahead of the front axle, lengthened the wheelbase, and added a custom built drop-side cargo box. The cab utilizes a roof from the Mopar JK-8 conversion kit, as well as a custom-designed front clip. The Wrangler-based interior has been enhanced with bold, heavy-duty Katzkin leather and a unique color scheme.
